Karina Mikhli - VP of Operations and Human Resources
Karina Mikhli started out as a high school teacher of Literature, Creative Writing, and Speech/Drama and then migrated to the publishing industry to help produce the books she loved. Through all this she maintained her love and passion for education by mentoring staff and continuing her own education: in addition to her BFA in Creative Writing with a minor in secondary education, she has an MS in Publishing and Certificates in Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, and Nonprofit Management. Her passion for books and writing were in large part thanks to her 10th grade literature teacher, Mrs. Davis, who made the words and stories they could weave come so alive that she has been an avid reader (and sometimes writer) since.
During her move to publishing, Karina discovered her strength for leading process, people, and projects and progressively moved up the content/production operations ladder at various publishers, including The Princeton Review, Oxford University Press, and Triumph Learning. Regardless of the company or title, she has repeatedly been hired to streamline workflows, maximize efficiency, and help with change management, which she has done while also improving cross-departmental relations and communications. Karina has also led the development, implementation, and training of various systems, including content and workflow management systems. She continues to read and learn via business books and helps others do so as well through her Women’s Business and Leadership Book Club and other ventures.
