Kim Ochs - VP of Instructional Design and Student Data
Kim Ochs is committed to changing education through teaching, research, and creating effective solutions. She started her career in technology research and consulting, and shifted into technology private equity during the Web 1.0 era. During this time, she also learned the power of online learning in helping to start a global health and education non-profit.
A lifelong learner, Kim completed undergraduate studies at Boston College and doctoral work at the University of Oxford. She has led educational research projects in the US and abroad, undertaken education policy research commissioned by educational ministries, and consulted to international organizations such as the Commonwealth Secretariat and UNICEF. She has also worked with education entrepreneurs to conduct pilot studies and develop business strategies.
Kim has taught at institutions of higher education in the US, UK and Germany in traditional, online, and blended learning programs. A favorite aspect of her current work is teaching teacher-leaders and supporting their professional development as educators, entrepreneurs, and researchers. Kim is passionate about developing educational solutions that are high-impact and context-relevant. She learned the power of applied learning early on, and remains grateful to her teacher Linda Hardert, who had the foresight to teach her eight-year-old students to meditate, touch type, and to make it a daily practice to learn something new. From her inspirational teacher Jan Mikrut, she learned the importance of empowering students to be creative and to become confident in exploring humanity. Kim views education as an important pillar of sustainable development, and technology as a tool to empower teachers and learners globally.
