Kristin Levine - Chief Education Officer
Kristin Levine is a passionate educational leader. One of the teachers who profoundly impacted Kristin’s love for education was her eleventh grade Ecology teacher, Mr. Howard York. Mr. York helped Kristin to see the impact of working on something you are truly passionate about, and inspired her to uncover a hidden interest in environmental science and promoting science education in urban communities. After High School, Kristin attended Northwestern University where she graduated with a degree in Psychology and Environmental Policy. After college she joined the 2006 New York City Teach for America corps, where she taught middle school science in Brooklyn. She went on to get a Master’s in Education from Bank Street College of Education as well as a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Columbia University.
Kristin has spent the past ten years in urban schools in Chicago and New York City. She has held both teaching and leadership roles in the charter and district sectors in some of the highest performing schools in the country. Most recently, she founded and developed her own charter school in Manhattan’s Chinatown neighborhood where she led her students to significant academic gains. She is passionate about giving all students, regardless of background, the access and tools necessary to succeed in college and a career of their choice.
