Lesson Directions:

  • VOCABULARY RESOURCES: Preview the vocabulary for this lesson. You will be using some of them in your assessment or discussion responses.

  • READINGS: Read each of the required readings.

    • Textbook: Ch 28 - 31 of Everyone’s an Author by Lunsford et al.

    • Two articles: “The days of 'fun flying' are long gone: How U.S. air travel became a nightmare” and “Breaking: Ryanair Places Huge Order For Up To 300 Boeing 737 MAX 10s

  • NOTE-TAKING ACTIVITY: Take notes while reviewing the learning materials below. You can use the Note-taking document below if you need a template: Note-Taking Document  

  • LESSON PRACTICE: Attempt the lesson practice questions after completing your assigned readings. You may have to submit your answers for certain questions.

  • ASSESSMENT: Complete the assessment questions. One assessment question will require an audio submission.

  • DISCUSSION ACTIVITY: Participate in the discussion with your peers. One discussion question will require a video submission.

  • CONVERSATION STARTERS: You may use the conversation starters and sentence stems as an additional resource to help you answer the questions found in this lesson.

  • AUDIO/VIDEO SUBMISSIONS DIRECTIONS:

    • Draft and practice your response.

    • Record your answer.

    • For the audio response, you may use your phone.

    • For the video response, you may use your phone or a free video-recording resource like QuickTime, Windows Video Editor, or Screencast-O-Matic to record your response.

    • Upload your file to a cloud drive (Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, etc.)

    • Add a link to your answer

      • NOTE: Make sure anyone with the link can access your answer, or you will not receive credit for your answer.

  • For the audio answer, add the link in the assessment answer section.

  • For the video answer, add the link to your discussion response.
