Lesson 6: Marketing on Facebook
6.1) The Power of Social Media
Social media is arguably the most important tool available to affiliate marketers and brand ambassadors to date. According to a recent study by Rakuten Marketing, 88% of consumers were inspired to purchase something by an influencer via social media in the past year.
The real magic of social media lies in the ability to engage with your audience in real-time, which creates a more meaningful connection with your viewers. Social media goes beyond entertainment; you can build trust and establish real relationships with followers. This means higher conversion rates, more sales, and a loyal customer base that keeps coming back for more.
Social media platforms have leveled the playing field for businesses of all sizes, giving everyone the opportunity to easily market their products or services with just a quick video or blog post. You don’t need a marketing degree or a huge budget to drive sales; all you need is a connection to your target audience and the ability to create engaging content. How will you leverage the power of social media platforms as an affiliate marketer with 24/7 Teach?
In the upcoming lessons, we will look at three of the most popular social media platforms used in affiliate marketing - Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok - and explore the best strategies to maximize their benefit for your own financial gain.
6.2) Facebook Overview
Facebook is the largest and most influential social media platform in the world. It is currently the most popular choice for affiliate marketers, primarily due to its massive user base of nearly 3 billion active members. Facebook has many features that make it easy to create and manage marketing campaigns, including:
Facebook Pages - Businesses can easily create pages to promote their products or services and have potential customers “like” the page in order to follow it. Affiliates can then share posts from these pages to their own audience, earning a commission for any sales they generate.
Facebook Ads - Facebook ads let businesses target specific audiences based on their demographics or interests. Products are promoted to those who are most likely to buy them, increasing the likelihood of sales.
Facebook Groups - Facebook groups are online communities where people with similar interests can connect and share information. Businesses use groups to build relationships with potential customers and update them with ongoing communication. Affiliates can then share posts from groups directly to their own audience.
Facebook Marketplace - This is a virtual marketplace within Facebook where users can buy, sell, and trade physical items. While digital products are prohibited in the terms of service, you can take out an ad in Marketplace that links to outside sources.
Facebook casts the widest net of users in the world, in terms of both age and location demographics. It has been around since 2004 and is particularly popular among older generations, unlike some of the newer social media platforms. All of these features make Facebook an ideal choice for businesses looking to reach a specific target market. Which of Facebook’s features will be most beneficial to your marketing campaign with 24/7 Teach?
6.3) Facebook Tips & Strategies
Once you’ve decided that Facebook is the right platform for your affiliate marketing campaign, here are a few tips to help increase your search engine optimization (SEO). According to a recent study by BrightEdge, SEO drives 1000% more traffic than organic social media alone, making it the single most important step in expanding your audience.
Personalize the URL of your Facebook business page to include your brand name.
Pro tip: Be unique! Do some extensive Google searching to ensure that no other business exists with a similar name so that your page will not be confused with another. Or use the domain name you chose in Lesson 3!
2. Be strategic about keywords in the “About” and other sections. These are the words that will be targeted when Facebook users conduct search queries, so make sure they accurately describe your business and add value to the customers.
3. Try “backlinking”! When a website receives a hyperlink from another website, it increases its search engine ranking. See how many high-quality sites you can get to include a link to your social media, such as blogs, local businesses, or highly active profiles. It validates and endorses your legitimacy!
4. Include accurate contact data, such as phone numbers, additional website links and hours of operation. The more ways you give your customers to reach and interact with you, the more convenient it will be for them to stay loyal to the brand.
5. Add call-to-action buttons, such as “book now” and “contact us”. This helps with ease of use from the audience perspective.
6. Include text or images for testimonials, reviews, and other features that positively promote brand awareness.
7. Interact with your audience directly. Reply to Facebook comments, resolve customer issues publicly, and increase overall engagement with your page.
8. #Hashtags
A hashtag is a marker on social media that begins with the # symbol. When users click a hashtag, related content of the same topic will appear. Using the right hashtag for your post can help you get more shares and followers. Whether you apply this to a trending topic (ex: #sharkweek) or just your company name, using hashtags strategically can drive your marketing efforts and increase sales. There are many online hashtag generators available that can help you explore options. Be sure to avoid overuse - 2 to 3 good quality hashtags per post is effective.

It is extremely important to use an affiliate disclaimer when posting on Facebook or any other social media site. Transparency that you are being paid to promote a service builds trust with your audience and shows that you are not misleading the customer. In addition to being explicit about your involvement as an affiliate, effective Facebook posts will market the product to address the customers’ pain points. How will your product or service provide a solution to a problem? The more relatable the post, the better. Be persuasive!
6.5) Analytics: ‘Facebook Insights’
Facebook Insights is a built-in analytics feature that will help you dissect the data from your page and set you up for success. You can see what time of day and day of the week is best for posting, as well as the type of content that is most popular.
To access this feature, go to your Facebook business page and click “See All” under Insights. You can see the number of page views, likes, how many people you reached, and more. This data will be broken down demographically, so you can learn more about your audience. You can also export the data to an Excel spreadsheet to generate graphs and charts that can be useful in business presentations.
Another cool feature of Facebook Insights is “Pages to Watch”. This compares your page to your peers and competitors. This is an excellent way to keep track of what is trending and to curate additional content for your own page. Data analysis is the best way to ensure the success of your affiliate marketing campaign. How many people will you reach?
