6.1 Zoom Meeting Protocols

Good communication is key to a productive environment, especially with remote work. To connect and collaborate with team members, 24/7 Teach uses Zoom. As a new member, it’s crucial for you to understand how to use this tool effectively.

Before you read any further, please download the most recent version of Zoom to your computer.

During Zoom meetings, 24/7 Teach uses a four-step check-in and checkout process to build trust among team members.

The Check-In/Checkout Process

Directions: Click on each step below to learn its purpose.

  • At the beginning and end of each meeting, the team leader asks team members to share a number between 1 and 10 that represents how they are feeling (This is their 'emotional number.')

  • Check-In:

At the beginning of the meeting: the team leader asks everyone to answer the Question of the Day, such as What’s your favorite movie, and why?, What would be your dream vacation?

    Checkout:

At the end of the meeting: To assess understanding of the meeting’s discussion, the 24/7 Teach team leader asks a check-out question such as What are three takeaways you have from today's meeting?

  • 24/7 team members say, I am complete to signal they have finished talking. This prevents interruptions and ensures everyone has an opportunity to speak.

    • At the beginning and end of each meeting, the team leader will choose one person to complete the check-in or check-out process.

    • This person completes the process, then chooses a second person to share and complete the process; the second person chooses a third after finishing their turn.

    • This process allows different team members to have the opportunity to speak up at meetings.
