The College Application Process

Start here: your graduation year and what you will build

This course walks you through applying to college, one step at a time. Each lesson takes 10 to 15 minutes on a phone. Each one ends with a page you save to your College Plan, your own plan for getting into college. By the end, your plan holds who you are, your dates, your tests, your school list and how you will pay.

On this page 2 sections

Two quick questions first

  • Your first name (so the course can talk to you).
  • The year you graduate from high school (for example, 2028). The course works out your grade from it, so you never have to update it.
  • Are you applying from outside the United States? Optional. If yes, some lessons add the extra steps international students take.

That is all we ask about you. The course never asks for your birth date, your address, your school login or any password.

How it works

  • Lessons 1 and 2 are free. Each one opens with a question a real student might ask, then teaches what you need to answer it well.
  • A short check at the end of each lesson makes sure the ideas stuck. You need 70 percent, and you can retake it as often as you like.
  • Your College Plan saves to your account once a parent or guardian agrees. Until then, it stays in this browser. We send the parent an email with one button to agree.

How much time: plan on about 4 to 6 hours a week in 11th and 12th grade, or 3 to 4 hours a week in 8th to 10th grade. Most of that time goes into your plan, not into reading.
